The Wizards' Concord
There once was a land vast and mighty, ruled by the arcane wisdom of Wizards of the Coast, known to all as
WotC.
In this realm of fantasy and lore, there existed a parchment, an ancient decree known as the
Fan
Content Policy.
Forged in good faith, it was crafted with a careful hand, permitting only the most honorable adventurers—the
true-hearted fans—to craft and share their tales.
But lo, heed this warning, for it was not without boundaries! The Policy called upon all who wielded quill
and ink to abstain from seeking riches through such creations. Their works must honor the intellectual realm
of the Wizards, respecting the borders of WotC’s kingdom and never tarnishing its name. With this code in
mind, this humble tool was crafted, an instrument to aid kindred spirits upon their quests, bound by the
spirit of the Fan Content Policy.
Take heed, brave traveler! Should you desire to gain riches or sell works based on the realm of WotC, know
this: Only with their blessing, granted through a rightful license, may one embark on such a venture.
The Wizards guard their treasures jealously, and those who seek to profit without consent may find
themselves met with dark enchantments.
For those daring souls who seek even greater liberty, who desire to create more than mere tales told for
fun, a path yet remains—though it is strewn with ancient words and riddles.
The Open Game
License, a scroll known as OGL, holds the key.
Seek it and understand, for it is the only way to wield the great powers with the blessing of WotC. The
first of its kind, the OGL 1.0a, rests in the hallowed halls of the Open Gaming Foundation.
Some say it can also be found in the
System Reference Document
(SRD),
hidden away in the depths of WotC’s own stronghold.
And so, dear adventurer, wield this tool with honor. Venture forth into the lands of imagination, knowing
that you tread upon hallowed ground, watched over by Wizards and governed by ancient laws.
May your path be bright, your stories wondrous, and your adventures… legendary.
Yet there is one last warning, a whisper in the night, for those who may come upon this tool: it is no
official thing.
It was crafted with reverence and care, a labor of love for the lands of fantasy. But know this,
adventurer—its creator does not claim ownership of the realms depicted, nor the lore contained within.
If, by some misfortune, you discover that this work encroaches upon another’s rightful claim, the creator
shall act swiftly to make amends, for it is written: “Respect is the mightiest of all shields.”
